Police are hunting a missing Fawkner man described as a serious violent offender.
Braydon Carrington, 27, is under orders to wear an electronic monitoring device but police say it has been tampered with and is missing.
Authorities became aware of this on Sunday.
They have released an image of Carrington in the hope of getting public help to find him.
He is required to live at a specified address and keep up regular appointments with police under an interim Serious Violent Offender order.
Carrington is described as caucasian, about 182cm tall, with a medium build, brown hair, hazel eyes and fair complexion.
He frequents the Fawkner and Greater Geelong areas.
Police believe he is dodging them and that anyone who recognised Carrington should not approach him but call 000.
Carrington has previously done jail time for the stabbing of his former partner’s new boyfriend in 2013 at Geelong.
He kicked down the door of a Breakwater property and stabbed the victim in the back.
In 2015, he faced court over a jailhouse fracas in which he punched a prison guard in the face.
He and his father had been doing time at Marngoneet Prison when Carrington saw his dad being restrained by officers.
“Carrington then rushed at one of the guards and punched him to the face with a clenched fist causing significant pain and bruising to the victim’s eye,” Senior Constable Ian Kerin told a court hearing over the Marngoneet matter.
Carrington’s lawyer said his client had gone into Department of Human Services care in 2006 after his father was jailed.
