Police appeal to the public to help find team of vandals who attacked Ben Carroll’s office

Police have released CCTV footage of a group of vandals with paint guns targeting the office of deputy premier Ben Carroll office in an early morning attack.

Vandals captured defacing commercial building

In a fresh bid to find the vandals who defaced the deputy premier’s office, police have released CCTV footage of the group’s graffiti rampage earlier this month.

Footage shows five offenders running down Keilor Rd in Niddrie about 4.30 on May 15 before stopping outside Ben Carroll’s office and beginning their trail of destruction.

While one offender scattered flyers along the footpath, another used a paint gun to douse the building’s front facade with red paint.

Once a CCTV camera was spotted, one vandal swiftly blasted it with paint.

Officers were told the group caused further criminal damage when they climbed onto the building’s roof and continued vandalising the property.

Near identical footage was posted to Instagram by activist group, Wage Peace Disrupt War on May 15, with a caption reading, “on the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, community activists paid a little visit to his office”.

The group’s footage shows one individual tagging Mr Carroll’s office with the phrase “blood on you hands”.

The activist group has repeatedly endorsed calls for communities to “take action at their local Labor MPs offices to force them to hear the demands of their constituents”.

The five vandals were all wearing dark coloured clothing and face coverings at the time of the incident.

They fled the scene before police arrived.

In a statement on Thursday, Mr Carroll said he was “disappointed” that his electorate office was “targeted by vandals”.

“I am grateful that none of my staff were present, everyone is entitled to feel safe at work,” he said.

“I would urge everyone to please be civil, and to remember what makes Victoria such a strong state is our diversity and our harmony.”
