A man has been rushed to hospital after being found critically injured on a footpath on Cheltenham.

The man, 34, was found on Jamieson St about 9pm Thursday by a passer-by.

A man and woman have been arrested in relation to the incident.

It is understood the pair was seen earlier in the night arguing with the man on an apartment balcony near to where he was found.

On Friday morning, police tape and an SES marquee were blocking the pathway out the front of the Jamieson St apartment building neighbouring Westfield Southland.

A resident of the apartment building where the man was found said he fell 10 floors before hitting the ground.

The man was taken to The Alfred hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Neighbours on Friday morning said they were frustrated at the lack of information about the incident.

“We just want to know if we’re safe”, said one woman, who added that there were always problems in the area.

A resident from the tenth floor said that her and her partner are “looking at moving” due to the number of incidents in the complex.

“We have a toddler up stairs and there is always something happening,” she said.

“We know there are drug dealers in the building.”

The woman also said she will often enter through the garage to avoid strangers out the front who are looking to gain access to the apartments.

The apartment building is located next to the McDonald’s which was the scene of a recent attempted carjacking.
