A security guard who was found dead inside his Dandenong North home has been remembered by friends and colleagues as a spiritual man with a “gentle soul”.
Emergency services were called to an Ashby Drive property about 7.20pm on Friday and discovered 50-year-old Stefan Jean Yves Selvon unresponsive.
A 46-year-old Dandenong North man, believed to be Stefan’s housemate, was taken into custody but released without charge pending further inquiries.
Lisa Cumming told the Herald Sun that Stefan was best friends with her husband Robert.
“He was very kind, spiritual and quick-witted,” she said.
“He always had the best laughs with my husband.”
Ms Cumming said Stefan was also loved by her entire family.
“We nicknamed him Prince of Mauritius at our wedding because he was the life of the party,” she said.
“We will miss him so much.”
Taryn de Munk said Stefan was the “loveliest person” when she worked with him at The Caledonian Hotel in Wonthaggi for about two years.
“He was a gentle soul … would sit with you for hours if you needed him to,” she said.
“Always welcomed you with a big hug when you saw him.
“The world lost a good man.”
Jose Solorzano said his friends and work mates were all hurting over Stefan’s death.
“He was a real, caring soul,” he said.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the man’s death were yet to be determined and investigations were ongoing.
