A former performing arts teacher has pleaded guilty to multiple child sex offences, including the sexual penetration of a child.
Brian Wallwork, 47, was initially charged with 17 offences relating to allegations of child sex abuse, but several of those charges were struck out in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Dressed in a blue shirt with a golden striped tie, Mr Wallwork appeared via videolink where he was seen taking several deep breaths before entering his plea.
He pleaded guilty to four rolled up charges, including an indecent act with a child, sexual penetration of a child younger than 16 and sexual penetration of a child (aged 16 or 17) in his care.
“Guilty,” he said when asked to enter his plea.
Mr Wallwork worked as a performing arts and music teacher at St Peter’s College, Clyde North campus in Cranbourne East but was suspended from the role after allegations surfaced.
His teaching registration has also been suspended while the matter is before the court.
It is alleged the charges do not relate to Mr Wallwork’s time at the college.
Detectives charged Mr Wallwork early last year after an investigation into allegations of sexual assault.
He will remain on bail until the matter is heard in the County Court in November.
