Mulia Marzuki pleads guilty to nine sex porn charges

A teacher who originally faced more than 150 charges has plead guilty to nine child sex-related offences between 2001 and 2019.

A teacher accused of a series of child abuse material and sex charges spanning almost 20 years has pleaded guilty.

Mulia Marzuki, 50, faces nine child sex related charges between 2001 and 2019.

The Notting Hill man, who was deregistered as a teacher earlier this year, originally faced more than 150 charges.

But Marzuki pleaded guilty to nine offences after prosecutors struck out a number of alleged offences on Friday.

He admitted to charges including making child abuse material and transmitting it online over five years from 2001, and of having a sexual relationship with a child under 16 for 13 months from 2001.

He pleaded to other charges of committing an indecent act in front of a child under 16 in 2005, along with three other sex charges spanning the next decade.

More recently, Marzuki faced one count of possessing child abuse material in 2019.

Asked in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday how he pleaded to the amended charges, Marzuki, dialling in from Hopkins Correctional Centre, replied, “plead guilty, Your Honour”.

He made no application for bail.

Marzuki had his teachers’ registration cancelled by the Victorian Institute of Teaching in January due to a negative notice against his Working With Children Check.

He will return to the County Court on August 24.
