A 27-year-old woman has been charged after shocking footage emerged of a child allegedly clinging to the windscreen of a moving car in Melbourne’s southeast.
A Dandenong woman handed herself into police and was charged with seven offences on Monday afternoon.
This included reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, driving in a dangerous manner, driving at a dangerous speed, reckless driving, careless driving and using an unregistered motor vehicle.
She was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on February 14 next year.
A concerned local filmed the video of the small grey hatchback driving down Greendale Boulevarde in Pakenham on Sunday, as a young boy was sprawled across its windscreen.
The child jolted over a speed bump before climbing back into the car through the sunroof.
The terrifying footage was posted on social media.
“I stopped this lady in the street at 12pm today as she did laps of our street with two kids hanging out the sunroof with no seat belts on,” the post read.
“Then she drives back towards me with one of the kids sitting on the windscreen. What the hell is wrong with people!”
Community members also shared their dismay online.
“Omg imagine he fell then they ran over him. Terrible,” one person wrote.
“I actually have no words! My jaw just dropped watching this,” another posted.
