The search for a Waterways father who was reported missing during a camping and dirt bike trip has come to a tragic end, with police locating his body in the state’s northeast.

Steven Clough, 58, is believed to have died involved in a motorbike crash at Big River Rd, Enochs Point about 181km northeast from Melbourne, with police locating his body about 1.40pm on Sunday.

It comes after a wide-scale search for Mr Clough around the Jamieson and Mt Terrible area at the weekend, where he told his family he would be riding his dirt bike during a camping trip.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

A police spokesperson said police would “like to thank the volunteers involved in the significant search that had been conducted.”

More than 70 police and volunteers searched the Jamieson area on Sunday.

The last contact his heartbroken family had with Mr Clough was when he told his partner Tammy about 1pm on Friday that he was going for a ride on his dirt bike near Mount Terrible and that he would let her know when he returned to camp.

He was last seen leaving his campsite at Skipworth Reserve, Kevington about 2pm on Friday.

Days before his disappearance Mr Clough had sent photos of Enoch Falls and other spots in Jamieson to the “Victorian Creeks and Rivers; Friends of Deep Creek” Facebook page which he described as a “very unique place” in the caption.
