A Melbourne musician has been arrested and charged with a string of deception offences, accused of fleecing people out of almost $10m through failed building ventures.

Victoria Police has charged a Melbourne musician accused of running property scams with 35 serious offences after his arrest on Friday.

Officers arrested Craig Heath at his Malvern East home on Friday morning, wanted for allegedly fleecing victims of almost $10m through various property scams across affluent Melbourne suburbs.

The country music singer is accused of running failed property missions that saw some victims lose their entire life savings.

He allegedly convinced more than a dozen people to invest in at least five property projects which went bust, owing some almost half a million dollars each.

Police will allege that last month, the singer - who had claimed he worked with star Keith Urban - had set his sights on single women in the Malvern East area, trying to convince them to invest in his dodgy projects.

One Melbourne woman told the Herald Sun he had set up “multiple profiles on different dating apps, using different names and ages” to promote his ventures to women.

But on Friday, officers arrested the singer and charged him with dozens of offences.

“Detectives executed a search warrant in McGregor Street in Malvern East and a 51-year-old Malvern East man has been charged with 35 offences including use false document, obtain financial advantage by deception and obtain property by deception,” a police spokeswoman said.

Alleged victims have continued to recount their interactions - and monetary losses - with Mr Heath to the Herald Sun.

One woman alleges she lost close to $40k when she was in a vulnerable position.

Another alleged victim said they had lost almost $10,000 dating back to 2017.

“Craig has many times over the years tried to get more money out of us for which we have refused of course, the latest contact being November 2023,” they said.

“Craig did pay back $5,000 in 2022 after years of me hounding him but needless to say, we are still waiting for the rest.

Among those who claim to have lost huge sums of money was a single mother with an autistic son.

She alleges she lost $200,000 in life savings.

A 68-year-old pensioner was allegedly defrauded of more than $700,000 in equity, and a couple launched bankruptcy proceedings against Mr Heath after claiming they lost almost a quarter of a million dollars.

Mr Heath, a father of two, established development company Heathcorp with his dad before it went into liquidation in October 2016.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 8.
