A man charged with manslaughter over an excavator death in Melbourne’s south has fronted court after he was extradited from NSW.

Christopher Bell, 52, from Winston Hills in Sydney, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged over the death of a 34-year-old man allegedly struck by a bobcat at a business in Bangholme in September last year.

Mr Bell faced Parramatta Local Court on Monday, before he was extradited to Victoria on a charge of manslaughter.

No details about the incident were aired during Tuesday’s brief administrative hearing.

The deceased man, from Devon Meadows, died in hospital from his injuries.

Police said the accused and the dead man were known to each other.

Mr Bell made no application for bail and was remanded to reappear in court on November 14.
