Homicide squad detectives have descended on a home in Melbourne’s east after a man was found dead inside.
Police were called to the property on Lorraine St in Boronia at about 4.20am on Friday.
However, the man’s death appears to be non suspicious, but police will wait for the results of a post mortem examination before making a final ruling.
Homicide squad detectives have now handed the investigation over to local detectives.
“Police will await the results of a post mortem to determine the cause of death and inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
“Knox Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.”
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The revelation comes after the victim was identified as a 20-year-old Boronia man.
The street has been cordoned off with police tape and is swarming with homicide squad detectives.
Forensics have spent several hours examining the home.
Detectives are also doorknocking neighbours as they work to piece together the circumstances that led to the man’s death.
A neighbour told the Herald Sun a family of three lived in the home.
She said the father was “quiet” and would help her with odd jobs around her house.
“He helped me a few times fixing my fans,” she said.
“He was very quiet and nice.”
The neighbour said he had a partner and daughter who attended a nearby primary school.
She heard the partner wailing with tears after police arrived on scene.
“Their little girl is so nice … so chirpy,” the neighbour said.
The family lived in a relocatable home, which the man worked on with great pride.
“He would work on the house pretty much every day,” the neighbour said.
A Toyota HiLux is parked outside the property.
