Arrests made after terrifying incident at Epping Secondary College

Four people have been arrested after two intruders armed with machetes stormed Epping Secondary College, sparking a brawl that left one student injured.

Epping high school brawl

TWO 13-year-old boys are among a group of four arrested after a frightening clash in which an Epping school yard was stormed last week.

Detectives from Whittlesea CIU detained the teens this week over an incident in which two armed males entered the grounds of Epping Secondary College on Friday, August 11.

Two intruders entered the school and were involved in a fight with students at 1.30pm.

At the time police said the males were carrying “blunt and edged weapons” when they entered the McDonalds Road school.

A police spokesman said five other males, believed to be students, were then “involved in an affray” with the alleged intruders.

A student was left with minor injuries and the armed men left the property before police arrived, sparking a manhunt.

A TikTok video circulated by a student showed high schoolers confused and running frantically.

“What the f**k is happening, what is going on,” said the student filming.

“I’m so confused.”

Screams and yelling from other students can also be heard as the students move away from the incident.

A male voice yells “they bought a gun,” which sends more students running.

An authoritative voice can be heard yelling for students to go to class.

“Get inside, get to class.”

“Stay away.”

A police spokesman said they had no indication a gun was at the scene.

A parent, who did not wish to be named, said she had removed her child from the “hell-hole” school because of increasing violence.

“A student has been bashed, and a student has gone home to get weapons before,” she said.

“There is ongoing violence and daily bashings. Vaping is rife.

“To be honest the whole school needs to be investigated.”

All of those arrested, including 16-year-old and 18-year-old boys, have been released pending further inquiries.

“It is believed all parties are known to each other,” a police statement said.

The police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
