Two people have been attacked in separate violent incidents just metres from each other on Elizabeth St on Sunday morning.
A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed by a teenage girl near Flinders Street Station about 5.30am.
It is understood the girl was among a group of about 10-15 teens when she approached the man and stabbed him.
Police have cordoned off a section of the footpath outside Hearns Hobbies as they investigate in the incident on the notorious Melbourne strip.
Several officers were pulled from the scene about 7.40am after a woman was tackled to the ground and attacked just metres away from the first crime scene.
It is understood the woman was set upon by a multiple individuals near the corner of Elizabeth St and Finders Lane.
She was found bloodied about a block away and was taken to hospital.
Witnesses told the Herald Sun the woman had approached them asking for a lighter when she was attacked “out of nowhere”.
A second crime scene was established outside Rozzi’s Pizza on Flinders Lane, with the section of footpath reopened about 9am.
The two early morning attacks come as a car smashed into a tram stop on La Trobe St about 5.30am.
Police confirmed two men in their 20s had been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
