Officers on patrol in St Kilda spotted an Audi sedan on Carlisle St in St Kilda at about 11.40am on 31 October.
They attempted to intercept the vehicle, but the 44-year old allegedly rammed two police vehicles and drove off. He allegedly car-jacked a Volvo and dumped the vehicle on Bright St in East Brighton a short-time later.

The man was hand-cuffed from the home about 3.50pm following a two hour stand-off with police and loaded into an ambulance.
On Sunday, he was charged with a string of offences including aggravated intentional exposure of risk to a police officer while driving, attempted aggravated carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, and attempted armed robbery.
He has been remanded and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
