Man charged with high-level drug trafficking after he was arrested at a Prahran property

A man with suspected bikie links has been charged after police raided a property and seized drugs, a gun and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle, a handgun and an array of hard drugs have been seized in a police operation with suspected bikie links.

A raid on a Commercial Rd, Prahran, property was made on Thursday after an investigation which began in May when a suspicious package was sent to the address.

Detectives from Prahran divisional response unit charged a man with high-level drug trafficking after he was arrested at the property.

Investigators seized 590 grams of ice valued at $100,000, one litre of GHB, what was described as a large quantity of prescription medicines and heroin.

A Harley Davidson and $14,900 cash were seized as the suspected proceeds of crime.

Sets of false identification were also confiscated.

A 59-year-old Prahran man was charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, trafficking and possess methylamphetamine, trafficking and possess GHB, possessing heroin, possessing prescription medication, failing to comply with direction, negligently deal property suspected of being the proceeds of crime and make use of a false document.

The man had been the subject to a firearm prohibition order at the time of the warrant and has been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 19.

Investigation and response Insp. Robert Nazaretian said FPOs were a powerful tool in keeping weapons out of the wrong hands.

“Police have absolutely no tolerance for drug traffickers and those in possession of illicit firearms; we will not hesitate to use all powers available to us, to keep our community safe,” Insp. Nazaretian said.
