Man charged with armed robbery, child theft after alleged crime spree
A man has been charged after allegedly going on a week-long crime spree in which a 7-year-old boy was taken after the car he was in was stolen.

A wild crime spree that included multiple armed robberies and stealing a car with a child inside it has seen a man charged after a stand off with police in Melbourne’s west.
A 28-year-old man was on Thursday charged with three counts of armed robbery, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, child stealing and driving while disqualified after a week on the run.
It is alleged the man, of no fixed address, stole a Kia Sorento in Altona on October 6 with a seven year old sitting inside.
The boy was found unharmed and returned home soon after the incident.
Two days later the man allegedly stole a Toyota HiLux from a Melton Highway shopping centre before robbing two different fast food restaurants on October 10.
Police allege he entered fast food restaurants and demanded cash while armed at Altona Meadows and Deer Park before fleeing the scene.
Police located the stolen Toyota on Thursday outside a property on Ferris Ave in Deer Park.
The man climbed onto the roof of the property as officers went to enter the property, police said.
Police were able to safely negotiate with the man to leave the roof where he was arrested at the scene.
The man is set to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
