A man has been arrested after a woman was slashed with a box cutter during a violent crime spree in the state’s northwest.

A woman has been slashed with a box cutter and another robbed during a violent crime spree in Victoria’s northwest.
A man allegedly approached a woman in Tuaggra St in Maryborough about 6.30pm on Sunday before demanding her car and stabbing her.
The 39-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the alleged offender fled the scene.
About 30 minutes later, the same man approached a second woman as she attempted to deposit cash at an ATM in nearby High St.
The man allegedly stole the cash from the machine and fled the area in a taxi.
He was arrested a short time later on Pyrenees Hwy and taken to hospital for assessment under police guard.
The man has been charged with carjacking with an offensive weapon, assault with intent to rob, intentionally cause injury, theft, deal with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime and weapon offences.
He will appear at the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
