Man charged after cyclist dies in alleged hit-run in Bangholme

A man has been charged over an alleged hit-run after a cyclist was found dead on the roadside in Melbourne’s southeast.

A man has been charged over a fatal hit-run in Melbourne’s southeast on Friday morning.

It’s alleged a vehicle struck a cyclist before fleeing the scene on Frankston-Dandenong Rd in Bangholme.

The cyclist was located by passers-by on the side of the road about 6am and was declared dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old Cranbourne East man handed himself into police and has been charged with numerous offences including dangerous driving causing death and failing to render assistance.

He has been bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 22.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident and determining what time the collision occurred.
