A man has been shot in the stomach and dumped on a suburban street after a confrontation in an underground car park in Melbourne’s south.
It comes after three men were found by a resident in the car park of an apartment building along Jamieson St, Cheltenham attempting to break into a storage unit about 1.30pm.
One of the men reportedly produced a firearm in an attempt to threaten the resident before the trio fled in a grey vehicle.
About 20 minutes later, a man aged in his 30s was dumped nearby on the corner of Dennis St and Hibberd St, Highett having suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is expected police will investigate whether the man was shot by accident, and if the two incidents were linked.
