Police are trawling Melbourne’s western suburbs for clues about a creep who was on the loose for days after allegedly breaking into women’s homes and sexually assaulting them.

In two separate attacks in Wyndham Vale on Friday last week, a 32-year-old man allegedly first attacked a teenage girl after finding her asleep inside her home about 2am.

Then in a second terrifying ordeal that morning, he allegedly assaulted a woman aged in her 60s nearby.

The sister of the teenage girl told the Herald Sun her sibling was now too scared to return to the house where she was allegedly assaulted.

“The front door was open, but that shouldn’t excuse the fact a total stranger walked into their home,” she said.

“My family’s never had a reason to lock their front door and now my sister’s afraid to step through it.”

But the Herald Sun understands other residents also feared the alleged attacker, with several reporting sightings of an unknown man attempting to gain entry to their properties around the time of the two sexual assaults.

The alleged offender remained free for three days after the attacks, before police arrested him on December 9.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said detectives from the Sexual Crime Squad charged the Wyndham Vale man with sexual and aggravated burglary offences.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court in March next year.
