Notorious Crime Family founder George Marrogi’s mother Madlin Enwiya faces court

The mother of underworld figure George Marrogi has faced court via video link as part of a sprawling organised crime inquiry.

The mother of George Marrogi has faced court after being charged as part of a money-laundering investigation centred on the jailed drug boss.

Driving instructor Madlin Enwiya is one of 24 people who have been charged by the Echo taskforce after a sprawling organised crime inquiry into her son’s activities.

Ms Enwiya, 55, is charged with offences related to dealing in the proceeds of crime.

She beamed into the Melbourne Magistrates Court from a remote location on Friday for the brief administrative hearing, which simply set future court dates.

Investigators had been running Operation Steelers which last year charged Marrogi with high-level drug crimes and had also looked deeply into his business arrangements.

Ms Enwiya’s other son, George’s younger brother Jesse, appeared via videolink immediately after his mother after also being charged as part of the same operation.

One by one, the cases of six others police allege were associated with George Marrogi’s feared Notorious Crime Family gang were heard in court.

They were Danny Younan, John Addam, Hussame Joseph, Jessica Homa, Megan Watts and Ahmad Ayad.

George Marrogi’s girlfriend Antoinetta Mannella will face court later today also charged over the major police bust.

No details of the allegations against the accused – all who remain in the community on bail or summons, except for Mannella – were aired in court.

Their cases were adjourned to April 21.

George Marrogi, 33, founded the NCF gang, based in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

He is in prison over the 2016 execution-style killing of northern suburbs drug dealer Kadir Ors.

Ors was shot dead outside the Officeworks store at Campbellfield Plaza.

Despite being in maximum security, Marrogi is suspected of organising multiple huge shipments of drugs into Melbourne.
