Laverton man charged after horror hit-run in Brunswick West
A driver who was pinned to the ground by witnesses in a dramatic citizen’s arrest is facing charges over a crash that left a woman fighting for life.

Police have charged a man who left a woman for dead in an alleged hit-run in Brunswick West.
The suspect, in a Toyota Crown, collided with two other cars at the intersection of Melville Rd and Albion St just after 10am on Saturday.
One of the drivers, a 49-year-old Brunswick woman, was trapped inside her car and was on Sunday evening fighting for life in hospital.
The other driver, a 34-year-old Strathmore woman, was uninjured.
The suspect allegedly fled the scene and was pinned to the ground by witnesses in a dramatic citizen’s arrest.
The Laverton man was hospitalised under police guard and charged with dangerous driving cause serious injury, reckless driving cause serious injury, fail to render assistance, fail to stop at the scene of an accident and other traffic-related offences.
He will front court on Monday.
