Police are trying to work out where and when a Traralgon man was wounded in a mysterious local shooting.
Brenton Brown, 30, presented himself at the Latrobe Regional Hospital at 6.50pm on Monday with a bullet in his back.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed police were investigating the incident.
“It is not yet known how he sustained the gunshot wound,” the spokeswoman said.
It is believed Mr Brown did not report the matter to police and has been uncooperative with officers inquiring into what happened to him.
Armed crime squad detectives are investigating the incident.
Mr Brown is known as a formidable figure in the parts of the Gippsland region.
Police went public that they were looking for him in 2020.
That regarded a warrant for conduct endangering life, evading police and drug-related offending.
