The widow of former AFL player Shane Tuck has reportedly withdrawn from the coronial inquest into her late husband’s death.

Katherine Tuck and lawyer Greg Griffin are seeking closer examination of the head knocks Shane Tuck experienced during his Richmond career, which has led to Ms Tuck holding “grave concerns” for the process.

In a letter sent to Judge John Cain, the AFL and the Richmond Football Club, reports Nine Entertainment, lawyer Greg Griffin explained why Tuck’s widow Katherine withdrew from the inquest.

“Our client has grave concerns in relation to the process currently being undertaken by this court, and the conduct of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death, which has inevitably led her to the decision to withdraw from any further involvement in the coronial investigation,” Griffin said.

Tuck played 173 games for Richmond from 2004 to 2013, before he took his own life in 2020.

He was posthumously diagnosed with CTE, likely the result of ongoing head knocks throughout his AFL career.
