'Far from over': What could happen next after Lynn sentencing

The daughter of slain high country camper Russell Hill says she wants “justice for dad” as she moves to sue Greg Lynn.

Lynn, a former Jetstar pilot, is serving a 32-year prison sentence — with a minimum term of 24 years — for the murder of missing camper Carol Clay.

But in a split decision in June the jury found Lynn, 58, not guilty of the murder of Mr Hill, 74, who was a father of three daughters.

Lynn testified the deaths of Mr Hill and Ms Clay were accidents but admitted to destroying the crime scene and burning the campers’ bodies.

Mr Hill’s daughter, Debbie Hill, said she now plans to sue Lynn so that elements of the prosecution’s case deemed inadmissable in the criminal trial can be aired in a civil court.

“I’m not at all (interested in the money) – we want justice for dad,” Ms Hill told 3AW on Wednesday.

“It was a big shock to the whole family. We thought the jury would hear all of the evidence, we didn’t know that some would be withheld.

“We knew he wasn’t being truthful earlier and we would have liked that to have been told to the jury so they could have decided themselves.”

Speaking to the Herald Sun after Lynn’s sentence, Ms Hill said her family did not accept his apology or accept his version of events.

“I don’t think he will but he definitely hasn’t told the truth and he needs to,” Ms Hill said.

“The families need to know what really happened and he has no reason not to tell us the truth.”

Lynn was sentenced in Victoria’s Supreme Court last week.

He was handed a minimum term of 24 years, meaning he won’t be eligible for parole until 2045 when he is aged 79.
