Jetstar JQ34 from Bali to Melbourne forced to ground as female passenger attempts to open cabin door

A popular influencer has opened up about the horror moment a female passenger tried to open a cabin door on a Jetstar flight from Bali to Melbourne and what triggered the woman’s epic meltdown.

A TV personality and influencer has recalled the horror moment a woman aboard a Jetstar flight from Bali to Melbourne tried to open the aircraft’s door – and what triggered the meltdown.

Ex Australian Survivor: All Stars contestant Brooke Jowett recounted the “bloody big panic” that erupted when Jetstar flight JQ34 was forced to turn around about two hours into the six hour journey.

In a major safety breach for the airline, a woman was able to pull a lever on the rear cabin door, sounding an alarm at the front of the aircraft.

In a video posted to social media, a crew member can be heard announcing the flight was returning to Denpasar due to an unruly passenger.

“There’s a lady down the back of the aircraft that tried to physically open the door. She lifted the handle, we got a door warning at the front of the aircraft”, the staffer is heard.

Ms Jowett has since told her nearly 50,000 Instagram followers that the woman was “arguing with the Jetstar staff about her seat” when the situation escalated.

“The reason behind the lady wanting to open the door is because she wanted to sit in a different row and have a chair that could recline, so she decided to try to open the doors,” Jowett said.

A man – Jowett said was an off-duty police officer – “saved the day” by pulling the woman away from the door.

A Jetstar spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday the woman was removed from the aircraft by local authorities upon arrival in Bali.

“We had an aircraft return to Denpasar last night after a disruptive passenger attempted to open one of the aircraft doors and was abusive to our crew,” the statement said.

“This sort of unacceptable behaviour will never be tolerated on our flights”.

The Qantas-owned airline commended the passengers and crew for their swift response.

“The safety and welfare of our customers and crew is our top priority and we thank them for the way they responded to the situation”.

The safety breach comes just hours after a passenger on a separate Jetstar flight captured a wild brawl between passengers travelling from Melbourne to Bali.

The two passengers were allegedly arguing over a reclined seat.

“One of us is going to f***ing die?” one of the men said, turning around in his seat before labelling the other man a “you’re a drunk F***”.

Nearby passengers were forced to intervene, restraining a second passenger as he stood up and attempted to lunge at the other man.

Jetstar crew and passengers attempted to separate the men, as one woman was heard yelling: “boys that’s enough”.

It is understood Jetstar is investigating the incident.
