Collingwood icon Jeffrey “Joffa” Corfe is set to argue that he wasn’t the offender as he faces child sex offences.
The 61-year-old appeared before a short hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court over two counts of sexual penetration of a child under 16.
Documents released by the court show Corfe faces two charges relating to intentional sexual penetration in Coburg on January 29, 2005.
His lawyer, Louis Dean, was asked whether there was an issue with the events occurring as they were alleged.
“It’s in issue, Your Honour, that Mr Corfe is the offender that’s described by the complainant,” he said.
Corfe said nothing as he appeared via video link wearing a face mask.

The Herald Sun revealed in May that one of the Pies’ most recognisable supporters and former cheer squad leader had been charged.
It followed a probe from the Fawkner Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team after is received a complaint over allegations in Coburg in 2005.
He was arrested in Abbotsford on Thursday, May 6, while visiting Melbourne.
Corfe applied for and was granted bail and returned to Redbank Plains in Queensland, where he had been living with family after returning from Fiji late last year.
It’s unclear why he returned to Australia, but a few days earlier he posted on social media: “With mixed feelings I leave the village, so many friends good times and sad times, how lucky we are to be Australian.”
