A teen who was stabbed in the head by gatecrashers at a party south of Melbourne has died in hospital from his injuries.
Jason Langhans, 17, was viciously assaulted about 2.30am on March 21 by an unknown offender while at a Tooradin party and was rushed to hospital and placed in intensive care.
The popular Cranbourne North teenager underwent three surgeries but he suffered permanent damage to his frontal lobe as a result of the attack and also suffered from a stroke more than two weeks later on April 6.
His family made the heart-wrenching decision to turn off his life support this week.
“Jason had everything going for him and has had it all taken away from him before he could even experience his life,” sister Stacey Langhans said.
“Fun loving Jason had big dreams, turning 18 in July (he was) looking forward to getting his licence to follow his passion of 4WD and catching that prize fish.”
Ms Langhans said the family was seeking justice.
“Our son and baby brother have been murdered and this person is still running around free,” she said.
Sister Emma Langhans also paid tribute to her younger brother.
“My baby brother, I held you when you came into this world and today I held you as you took your last breath,” she posted.
“You didn’t deserve this my sweet boy and you were way to young to be taken from us. You will sorely be missed but never forgotten.
“You have left a hole in my heart that will never be replaced.
“You go catch that big fish now mate. Until we meet again Jase, I love you.”
Another relative Torie Langhans posted with the hashtags #violenceisnevertheanswer and #justiceforjason.
“There are no words to explain the ache and emptiness in our hearts as we say goodbye to you,” she said.
“You were always one of a kind. You did not deserve this. You deserved nothing less than a full life filled with happiness and love.
“At only 17, you still had your entire life ahead of you and it absolutely devastates us knowing you have had that taken from you, that we won’t get to see your happy smile or hear your laugh or give you shots at Christmas again.”
Greg Angus shared his grief over the loss of the fun-loving teen.
“l am heartbroken to hear of the senseless attack (that has) taken of your life, he said.
“This is incomprehensible (and) can never be taken back. l hope the people that have done this rot in hell.”
Detectives from the homicide squad have launched an investigation.
“Detectives are investigating reports a group of men became involved in an incident with the teen which escalated to a physical altercation,” a police statement said.
“The Cranbourne North boy was taken to hospital at the time with life-threatening injuries.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
