A mother accused of chopping off her boyfriend’s penis and stabbing his mate in a double homicide in Brunswick is being held in a mental health facility.

Jasmine Eveleigh, 44, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court from Thomas Embling hospital on Monday.

Her lawyer Domenic Care told the court Ms Eveleigh was being “housed” at the Fairfield hospital since her arrest in May.

He successfully asked for the case to be adjourned for a psychiatric report to be obtained.

Ms Eveleigh is charged with murdering Samir Esbeck, 59, and Sarkis Abboud, 61, at the Hope St apartment complex about 5.20am on May 5.

She is understood to have been in a relationship with Mr Esbeck.

No details of the allegations against her were aired in court.

When magistrate Andrew McKenna asked if she had dialled into the online hearing, Ms Eveleigh said: “Hello?”

Her video was switched off, but she said “OK, thank you” when Mr McKenna explained her case was being adjourned “to get some important material that might assist your case”.

At the time, Mr Abboud’s daughter Christine Abboud paid tribute online to her “hero” father.

“My heart feels empty knowing I won’t ever see him again … Dad, I love you,” she wrote on social media.

Ms Eveleigh’s case will return to court on September 19.
