Sneaky arsonists are being sought by police after setting multiple fires in St Kilda over the past three weeks.

The first blaze was caused by pushing wheelie bins against a car and setting them alight, damaging the car and a nearby apartment building in the early hours of the morning.

The second fire was started in the same manner, also damaging a car and apartment block.

However, this car was parked in the apartment building’s carport and therefore the fire damage spread to several more vehicles and property.

Three further blazes were discovered days later where a bin was pushed against the door of an electrical room and set alight.

Later the same day, six wheelie bins were set against the rear fence of a property and sent up in flames.

A wooden box was also pushed against the door of an apartment and set on fire.

Fortunately, no one has yet been injured as a result of the bin-inspired fires.

Detectives believe all the incidents are linked and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have seen suspicious activity in the St Kilda area.

Anyone who may have CCTV, or any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
