A registered sex offender with multiple animal tattoos has been arrested after a month on the run.
Earlier this month, the force said Sean Dertilis, 46, was wanted on warrant for failing to comply with his reporting obligations, saying his last contact with authorities on July 15.
He was apprehended in Coburg on Monday without incident.
Dertilis was added to the state’s registered sex offender list in 2015 for offences which occurred in 2012.
He was jailed in 2014 after pleading guilty in Geelong County Court to three counts of committing an indecent act with a child under 16.
The Geelong Advertiser reported he provided underaged girls with drugs and allowed them to stay overnight at his unit.
At the time, Judge Phillip Coish said Dertilis had a long history of drug use and criminal offending.
“You have numerous priors from 35 court appearances between 1993 and 2011, but no priors for sex offending,” he said.
“I see your prospects of rehabilitation as cloudy.
“You had a vulnerable young person staying in your unit and on drugs supplied by you.
“She is now fearful and depressed and according to her mother, has become withdrawn and prone to panic attacks.”
