Three Hells Angels – including gang boss Luke Moloney – have been arrested over a bashing at Reservoir last weekend.

Echo taskforce detectives charged the three patched members over an assault at a home.

Raids were carried out at a Seaford clubhouse, three homes in Reservoir and properties at Ferntree Gully, Attwood and St Kilda.

Weapons were seized at each of the addresses raided.

The police operation was launched after a man in his 20s was assaulted at a home in Maclagan Crescent, Reservoir, last Sunday.

Police said he suffered serious upper body injuries but was able to escape the property.

Mr Moloney, the 41-year-old president of the Angel City chapter, has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, assault, assault with a weapon, extortion, possessing a schedule four poison and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

Kane Montebello, a 30-year-old man from Ferntree Gully, who is also a gang president, was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, assault, extortion and assault with a weapon.

Julian Assafiri, a 24-year old man from Attwood, who is a serjeant-at-arms of the Angels, was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, assault, extortion and assault with a weapon.

The trio appeared before Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Friday evening and were remanded in custody as their file and bail hearings were adjourned.

Assafari’s matter will be heard on Saturday.

Moloney and Montebello’s matters will be heard on 17 February.

The operation also involved investigators from the illicit firearms squad, the armed crime squad, southern metro region and the Australian Federal Police national anti-gangs squad.

The arrest today is the latest in Moloney’s run ins with the law.

Last year the bikie was denied bail over firearms charges described by a magistrate as “incredibly serious”.

Police seized a loaded handgun and steroids during a raid at Moloney’s Reservoir home in August after he was served with a Firearm Prohibition Order.

The 41-year-old was charged with several offences including failing to surrender a firearm and possessing an unregistered handgun.

Moloney was initially denied bail on the grounds he posed an unacceptable risk even though he offered a $10,000 surety.

“The police obviously know who this man is – he’s on their radar,” Mr Sheales told the Magistrates’ court.

“And he understands if he gets arrested again … it will be a very different ball game.”

Detective Inspector Graham Banks, of the Echo taskforce, said the squad “has a substantial commitment to monitoring the behaviour of serious and organised crime groups such as OMCGs and where incidents like this occur, we will act.“The Hells Angels is a group well known for significant violent offending, and they will remain a continued focus of Victoria Police and our partner agencies such as the AFP National Anti-Gangs Squad for this reason.”
