Heartless thieves target home where Yvonne Beres was stabbed to death

Two offenders tried to steal a car from the back of a Langwarrin house one day after a grandma was allegedly murdered by her husband.

Would-be thieves tried to steal a car from a Langwarrin home where a grandmother was stabbed to death on Boxing Day.

Two offenders entered the Wood Duck Court house on Friday December 27 and tried to steal a car from the back of the property before they were disrupted by a neighbour who scared them away.

Grandmother Yvonne Beres, 59, was found dead in the home one day earlier.

She was allegedly murdered by her husband John Beres, 63.

Police said the death of Ms Beres and the attempted car theft were not linked.

The two offenders who tried to steal the car were seen fleeing the scene in a blue Ford Falcon heading towards Frankston-Cranbourne Road.
