Shots fired into a home in Melbourne’s north may have been a strike against well-known Melbourne underworld figure Mohammed Oueida.

Two gunmen remain on the run after firing at least two shots into a home on Major Rd in Fawkner about 11pm on Saturday night.

The Herald Sun has been told the targeted property is linked to Oueida, a major gangland figure who has been charged with serious drug trafficking offences in Western Australia.

Three people were inside the home during the attack but no one was injured.

The shooting had the hallmarks of an organised crime attack, with a stolen Suzuki Swift later found torched on Fashion Pde in Broadmeadows with a gun inside.

Police say two men tried to force their way into the house about 11pm on Saturday night, with one man shooting at the front door while the other tried to break into the house.

It is understood an argument broke out before the shots were fired and the alleged offenders sped off in the stolen car.

Several cars were parked out the front if the property.

CCTV footage captured the moment two loud gunshots were fired into the home.

The stolen Suzuki could also be seen circling the property before the shots ring out.

The gunmen fired two loud shots into the front door of the single storey brick home.

A large bullet hole remained visible on the front door of the home on Sunday afternoon.

The Herald Sun is not suggesting the residents of the home are involved with organised crime or illegal activity.

Oueida remains behind bars in Western Australia after police uncovered 14kg of methamphetamine, $10,000 cash and encrypted mobile phones at a Perth home in June.

Detectives attached to Operation Repeater allegedly found the methamphetamine in glass jars inside a duffel bag after storming the house at suburban Ballajura.

Victoria Police’s Armed Crimes Squad is investigating the targeted shooting.
