Greenvale home hit in terrifying drive-by shooting as children slept

A gunman is on the run after a Greenvale home with children sleeping in the front rooms was peppered with bullets in a horror drive-by shooting.

Children were sleeping in the front rooms of a northern suburbs home as it was peppered with bullets in a “scary” drive-by shooting on Friday.

Witnesses described hearing nearly a dozen gunshots ring out as a gunman opened fire on a Charm Rd house in Greenvale about 1.25am.

A young boy and girl were sleeping in the front rooms as at least eight bullets were blasted into the home in a terrifying attack.

Neighbour Melissa Drummond said the gunfire was relentless.

“I heard a car and then bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,” she told the Herald Sun on Friday.

“I thought ‘that’s a gunshot, holy shit’. I jumped out of bed and ran outside and told the neighbours they’d just been shot at.”

Ms Drummond said the victims, a “beautiful” young Greenvale family who had just moved in, were left shaken.

“There were young kids sleeping in the front rooms. The bullet went through and just missed their daughter,” she added.

“The little girl walked past (the window) as the bullet went past. I’m just so glad no one was shot.

“They are just in shock. It’s scary.”

Police have been told at least one unknown offender fired the shots from a dark coloured vehicle before driving off.

They said no one was injured but are still trying to track down the gunman.

“Investigations into the matter remain ongoing,” a statement read.

It is not known why the Charm Rd house was shot up but it is the second drive-by shooting in Greenvale within three weeks.

Bullets were also fired at a Myoora Crescent home on June 27 in another early morning attack.
