Disgraced former AFL player agent Ricky Nixon has been ordered off the road for speeding.

Nixon, 59, from Port Melbourne, was stripped of his licence for three months after he failed to appear in Colac Magistrates Court on Monday on one charge of exceeding the speed limit after being clocked doing 97km/h in an 80km/h zone in the state’s west.

Magistrate Franz Holze opted to deal with the matter in Nixon’s absence, saying he had been given ample warning about the hearing date, having been issued with a summons in August last year.

“I am satisfied he is aware of today’s date,” Mr Holzer said.

“It’s a matter that could be dealt with ex-parte.

“I find the charge proven. Ms Nixon’s licence is suspended for three months from today.”

He said Nixon has “some history but not an extreme history” when it comes to traffic offences.

On top of the suspension, he also fined him $500.

Court documents show police had intercepted Nixon in a white Mercedes van on the Princes Hwy, between McCorkells and Murray roads, in Pirron Yallock about 10.30am on April 10 last year after detecting him speeding.

When asked why he was speeding, he gave no answer.

The lead foot driver was issued with a $363 infringement, but refused to pay it and instead chose for it to be dealt with by a magistrate.

Mr Holze’s ex-parte ruling would make it hard for Nixon to continue his work driving mobile health vans, which conduct health checks, across the state.

It comes after he last month appeared via videolink in Melbourne Magistrates Court to contest a $300 speeding fine, telling the court he did not have “two hours to spare” as he needed to get back to work.

“I’m asking for it to be adjourned because I have urgent medical health checks I’m doing in Prahran. My nurses are waiting for me,” he told the court.

He has pleaded not guilty to that charge, which alleges he was driving 92km/h in an 80km/h zone of the Midland Hwy on June 14, 2021.

He earlier told the court he was heading to a Neale Daniher charity golf event at the time and recalled a “digital sign” had shown the speed was due to change from 100km/h to 80km/h at midnight.

He argues he was not speeding as he was clocked before this time.

He will return to court for a contested hearing over those allegations in May.
