A food delivery driver has been stabbed in a terrifying ambush in Carnegie on Saturday night.
The incident unfolded near the corner of Oakdene Crescent and Murrumbeena Rd, at about 8.20pm.
It is believed a man had been hiding in the bushes near the sky rail overpass and pounced on the deliver driver, stabbing him and stealing his e-scooter.
Police confirmed they conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to find the assailant, who remains on the run.
A Carnegie local, who wished to remain anonymous, was walking his dog near the sky rail path when he stumbled across the aftermath of the horror attack.
“There was some large guy with no T-shirt who was on top of another guy,” the man told the Herald Sun.
“I walked over and someone had been stabbed multiple times.
“Someone was just hiding in the bushes and jumped out and lunged at him and stabbed him several times and stole his motorbike and rode off.”
The witness said he was “shocked and terrified” by the incident.
“This is my neighbourhood, where I live,” he said.
The delivery driver was stabbed several times in the arm and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
