Evil killer and pedophile Robert Arthur Selby Lowe dies in jail

Reviled murderer and sex offender Robert Arthur Selby Lowe has died in jail serving a life sentence for the murder of six-year-old Sheree Beasley.

Robert Arthur Selby Lowe – the man who killed six-year-old Sheree Beasley – has died in jail.

The reviled murderer and sex offender died last week at the Hopkins Correctional Centre near Ararat, in western Victoria.

Sheree was riding her bicycle from local shops to her home in Rosebud on June 29, 1991, when Lowe abducted her.

Her body was found weeks later dumped in a local stormwater drain in a crime which sickened Victorians.

The evil Sunday school teacher and travelling salesman was later sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime.

He had a history of offending against children.

In the period before Sheree was grabbed, he had exposed himself to children several times.

Lowe is believed to have died of natural causes.

Corrections Victoria confirmed the death of an 84-year-old prisoner at Hopkins Correctional Centre last Thursday.

A statement said all deaths in custody were referred to the Coroners Court of Victoria to determine the cause of death.

Lowe had a history of offending against children.

“Deaths in custody have an impact on family members, friends and corrections staff, as well as victims of crime, and we’re working to ensure they are provided with the support they need,” the statement said.

“The next of kin of the man were notified with our condolences.”

In 2010, Lowe was linked to a depraved sex ring operating out of Hopkins.

Inmates were smuggling in child pornography and Lowe allegedly was one of those supplied with USB sticks and memory cards.

He was at the time involved in a prison church group.

Hopkins holds some of the country’s worst sex offenders, housed away from mainstream prisoners for their own safety.
