A former prisoner has been busted trying to break her way back into a maximum security jail.
The woman, bent on returning to life behind bars, was intercepted on Monday at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre at Deer Park, in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
She had run into a sally port area at the front of the prison before being restrained by emergency response officers.
The Herald Sun has been told the woman was wearing a balaclava and a reflective vest.
She had hidden outside the gatehouse area before making her move.
Sources say the emergency response officers initially had difficulty taking control of the situation because they could not get into the sally port.
It is unclear why the woman wanted to return to Dame Phyllis.
“They’re breaking into jail now,” a corrections source said.
“The food must be pretty good.”
A Corrections Victoria spokeswoman confirmed there had been an incident.
“The incident was quickly contained and there were no injuries. Victoria Police were notified and responded accordingly,” the spokeswoman said.
