Eight members of the feared Rebels bikie gang have been charged with serious affray after a vicious brawl broke out in Mildura nearly a fortnight ago, which saw a young woman punched and kicked to the head multiple times.

It is alleged the “cowardly” and “unprovoked” brawl broke out outside a licensed premises in Langtree Ave about 2.30am on May 29.

The fight continued down the street and the woman in her 20s was allegedly assaulted.

Later, in a separate incident, it is alleged a 29-year-old man was also assaulted.

Acting Senior Sergeant at Mildura Crime Investigation Unit, Garry Mathews, said this was “shocking behaviour” which would not be tolerated.

“This investigation shows we will stop at nothing to put those responsible for putting others at risk before a court,” he said.

“We want to thank people in the community for their assistance in what can only be described as a cowardly and unprovoked assault.

“The community can rest assured that groups such as this who break the law and go against community expectation will be continually held to account by Victoria Police.”

Mildura Crime Investigation Unit detectives and the anti-bikie Echo task force have charged the eight men, who are believed to be members of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

The Rebels are Australia’s largest bikie gang, with more than 1000 members.
