The daughter of slain underworld kingpin Carl Williams has fronted court after she was allegedly nabbed using her mobile phone while behind the wheel of her BMW.

Dhakota Williams, 21, dialled into Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to face a single charge of using a handheld mobile phone while driving.

Ms Williams, who was just 10-years-old when her drug baron father was beaten to death in jail, told the court her lawyers had instructed her to adjourn the matter while they awaited further paperwork.

Ms Williams, who boasts more than 37,000 followers on social media, where she shares photos of her family and glitzy lifestyle, kept her camera off for the duration of the brief hearing.

When asked about an application made by several journalists for court documents, Ms Williams said she was clueless as to why the media would be interested in her case.

“Oh, I don’t know?” Ms Williams said.

According to court documents Ms Williams was intercepted by police while driving a black BMW down Alexandra Ave in Melbourne in August last year.

Police allege she had her phone in her lap and was using Google maps at the time.

Ms Williams remained tight-lipped when questioned by police, charge sheets allege.

Magistrate Graeme Keil said the court was “very very keen to deal with these matters” immediately.

“It’s up to yourself, but this is just a very straightforward matter,” Mr Keil said.

“I can give you a sentencing indication now,”

“We can deal with it now rather than adjourning it off for paperwork you may or may not need,” he continued.

Ms Williams declined and asked for the matter to be adjourned.

The case will return to court on June 17.
