Cosmetic Empire targeted by arsonists two nights in a row

Arsonists have targeted a Sydney Rd beautician for the second night in a row, with a tattoo parlour next door also damaged in the blaze.

Coburg, Footscray tobacco stores set on fire in latest attacks

Arsonists have firebombed a Coburg cosmetics clinic on two consecutive nights.

Detectives were first called to Cosmetic Empire on Sydney Rd after the business was set alight at 1.30am Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, hours after the last emergency services left the scene, arsonists moved in again.

They rammed a car through the front window of the business at 4.40am then set it alight again, the same method used in dozens of other Melbourne firebombings in the past 18 months.

They then drove away in the vehicle.

Sydney Rd was closed for hours in the aftermath as investigators made more inquiries.

Cosmetic Empire offers services such as cosmetic injectables and laser hair removal.

The business is believed to have links to a man who was in a car with Sam “The Punisher” Abdulrahim when gunmen tried to kill the kickboxer and underworld identity at his cousin’s funeral at Fawkner Cemetery.

Abdulrahim survived the bungled 2022 hit in which he was shot multiple times from close range.

The Addikted to Ink tattoo parlour next-door to Cosmetic Empire was left with minor damage.

“Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of both incidents and whether they are linked,” a Victoria Police statement said.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents, who has CCTV or dashcam footage or any other information can contact Crime Stoppers.
