Controversial AFL identity Ricky Nixon was involved in a heated court appearance at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The former sports agent claimed he would not be available for future court appearances due to his mobile Covid “ambulance” business.

Mr Nixon fronted court over a speeding fine but he denied the charges.

When magistrate Michael Gurvich asked if he was there for a speeding charge, Mr Nixon replied “allegedly”.

According to the prosecution, Mr Nixon had indicated he would plead guilty to the charge at an earlier summary case conference, but on Wednesday he denied that was the case.

“This is completely incorrect,” he said.

During the argumentative appearance, Mr Nixon said he had contacted the traffic camera office on five occasions but they “don’t know what’s going on”.

He also questioned the absence of the summary case conference prosecutor.

“The prosecutor hasn’t turned up? That’d be right,” he said.

When Magistrate Gurvich tried to set another court date in July, Mr Nixon said he wouldn’t be able to make it.

“I’m not available then, sorry,” he said.

The former agent flagged his seven-day a week mobile Covid “ambulance” business was keeping him busy.

“I’ll just adjourn (again) when we get to it,” he said.

Mr Nixon will front Melbourne Magistrates’ Court again on September 2.
