A ninth person has been charged over the Frankston shooting of a “family man” who remains in hospital with a bullet lodged in his head.
Father-of-three Jesse, from Dandenong, was shot in the head during an argument at Armata Crescent on November 4.
Police moved to arrest a 22-year-old Seaford man in the CBD just after midday on Wednesday.
He was allegedly captured on CCTV appearing to throw away a baseball bat near a crime scene.
The 22-year-old was marched into police headquarters on Spencer St before he was quizzed by armed crime detectives.
The Seaford man has since been charged with aggravated home invasion, four counts of common law assault, affray, violent disorder and two counts of criminal damage.
He was due to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday evening.
A Frankston North woman, 59, was also taken into custody on Tuesday night.
She was interviewed and released pending further inquiries.
The Seaford man became the ninth person charged over an alleged home invasion and near-fatal shooting of Jesse at The Pines.
Speaking publicly for the first time, Jesse’s mother, Michelle, said her son was lucky to be alive but had a long recovery ahead of him.
“At the moment, Jesse is in the Alfred Hospital, they can’t remove the bullet from his head,” she said on Tuesday.
“He still has another operation to go, he has fractures in his face that need to be repaired.
“When the swelling goes down in his brain, they’ll put the piece of skull back in. He’s got minimal use on the left hand side of his body.
“It’s just going to be long term, it’s going to be a long road for Jesse.”
She said the family of the 36-year-old were trying to keep things “as normal as we can” for Jesse’s three children aged 16, 13 and 11.
“We are suffering … they’re really struggling,” she added.
Armed crime squad investigators were on Tuesday yet to speak with Jesse given the nature of his “life-altering” injuries.
The shooting happened during an altercation involving a group of people at a house in Armata Crescent at 7.14am on November 4.
Police say an aggravated home invasion had happened at about 6pm that day in Raymond Ave, Frankston.
They believe the cases may be linked.
Detective acting Sen-Sgt Dave Shannon said the victim had arranged to meet a group of men at a nearby park to “have a discussion” about the alleged home invasion earlier in the night.
“They certainly arranged to have a discussion about what had happened earlier,” he said.
Among those to have already faced charges in relation to the alleged shooting and home invasion include:
• A 17-year-old boy
• An 18-year-old Frankston North woman
• A 21-year-old Mornington man
• A 22-year-old Frankston North man

• A 24-year-old Cranbourne North man
