A 21-year-old man charged over a rampage in Caroline Springs allegedly posted live videos to Snapchat as the terrifying ordeal unfolded.

Police responded to reports of Madut Aropp behaving erratically about 10pm on Saturday night, allegedly damaging cars and brandishing a machete outside a Hopetoun Green property.

He also allegedly attacked a 24-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man.

The pair, believed to be father and daughter, live in a property on the street.

In the videos, which were seen by The Herald Sun, a man, alleged to be Aropp, can be seen wielding a weapon as he torments neighbours and behaves erratically.

Snapchat videos allegedly posted by Mr Aropp, show the 54-year-old Caroline Springs man on the phone to the police as he attempts to defend himself with a pole.

A neighbour who witnessed the incident described hearing screams and banging coming from the street.

“He (the offender) slammed a bin against a garage door,” the neighbour said.

“When I came outside I saw the bin in the driveway and then I heard screaming.

“By the time I got closer I couldn’t see much but I realised they had gone further up the street.

“He was like chasing, I think it’s the father of the girl that lives opposite him, down the street with a knife.

“I didn’t see it but the girl must have been hit in her back because she was wearing a white top and I could see lots of blood on the back.”

Officers negotiated with Mr Aropp who allegedly refused to exit a nearby property.

He finally surrendered to police about 11.30pm, and was immediately arrested.

The Caroline Springs local has been charged with two counts of intentionally causing injury, two counts of criminal damage and one count of affray.

Mr Aropp, 21, was denied bail at a short hearing in the Bail and Remand Court at midday on Sunday.

Wearing a plain, white t-shirt, hestood and waved to three people seated in the courtroom before he was remanded back into custody.

The court heard he was “possibly withdrawing from alcohol” in the wake of the alleged attacks.

Mr Aropp will appear before Sunshine Magistrates Court on Monday.

A neighbour said the 21-year-old’s mother owned a house in the street and usually rented out the property, but her son had been living in the house for the last couple of months.

“I bumped into him two nights ago and we were just having a chat,” the neighbour said.

“He was telling me that like the police are onto him, trying to get him or something.

“I said what have you done, and he goes oh nothing it’s just tribal gang fighting that’s going on from back home (from Sudan).”
