The close-knit community of Hamilton is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of four people as details of the victims’ final moments are revealed.

Tributes continue to pour in at the scene of the horror crash that claimed the lives of four people and left one teenage girl fighting for life.

Flowers and messages were left for 14-year-old Meghan Fox, who died at the scene sometime on Saturday morning.

Her sister, Jorja Fox, 17, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash, had been in a critical condition since Saturday, with The Alfred hospital on Monday night confirming she was in a serious but stable condition.

Paige Ferguson, 14, and Lee-Anne Papst, 37, attended the scene on Tuesday morning to place flowers and pay tribute to young Meghan and those who were killed.

“We just can’t believe it,” Ms Papst said.

Both said they hoped Jorja Fox was recovering and offered support for the Fox family.

“Don’t give up fighting, we are all here to support her and love her,” Ms Papst said.

Paige said she had known the Fox sisters for several years and was close friends with Meghan in particular, having both attended Baimbridge College.

Alicia Montebello, 31, worked with Joshua Elmes, 15, and Jorja Fox at Coles in Hamilton, with Paige saying that Alicia and Jorja were “best friends” and would often hang out together.

She had also been with Joshua Elmes at a Youth Alive event the night before he died, noting that he was “cheerful and happy”.

“We were at Youth Alive, that was the last time I saw him,” she said.

Paige said the mood around Baimbridge was morose, with students still coming to terms with the news of their classmates’ passing.

“There are lots of posters for Meghan and Lucus.”

“In the library it’s been a quiet place with so many counsellors; there’s things to do but people aren’t able to do class work,” she said.

She added that not many students had been able to come to school this week, and those that were attending had been grieving and decorating lockers.

Paige said she was friends with Lucus Garzoli, 14, and was saddened to hear that he was in the car at the time of the crash.

“We were surprised Lucus was in the car actually, I’ve never really seen him hang out with those guys (Alicia and Jorja),” she said.
