A hidden security camera has captured a bumbling burglar trying to break into a house in Bendigo, including the moment he realises he’s been caught red-handed.
Footage released by police shows the man, dressed in a black and orange hi-vis T-shirt, a blue bucket hat and black gloves, attempting to unlock the security door of a Kangaroo Flat home.
Eventually noticing the security camera, the thief picks it up and turns it around, positioning it to face the wall of the home rather than the front door.
The footage for the home security camera reveals a second blundering accomplice who fails to notice the dutifully placed security camera as he attempts to unlock a side gate.
The second thief, a man police believe is aged between 30 and 40, is dressed in a grey long sleeved top with a black and orange T-shirt on top, shorts and a blue cap.
The men allegedly ransacked each room of the Alpina Place property, stealing cash and jewellery before fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred around 5:30pm on December 17.
