Australia’s building regulator is taking legal action against the CFMEU for allegedly trying to coerce a Victorian company to sign an enterprise agreement with the militant union.

The Australian Building and Construction Commission claims CFMEU officials attended the contractor’s worksite on most workdays over a three-month period and remained on site throughout the day.

It’s alleged the union caused widespread disruption to the contractor’s projects and CFMEU officials broke right of entry laws on several occasions.

In March, CFMEU official Gerald McCrudden allegedly stood on a workplace driveway and blocked trucks attempting to enter the site.

When asked to move, Mr McCrudden allegedly said, “I can stand wherever the f---k I like.”

On another occasion. CFMEU official Jaxson Mahy allegedly accessed a site manager’s computer without permission and took a photo of its contents.

The ABCC is seeking personal payment orders against seven CFMEU officials in total.

The union faces hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines if the officials are found guilty of the offences.

The CFMEU was contacted for comment.
