The defacto stepdaughter of Tony Mokbel has been ordered to pay a Melbourne builder more than $800k after a four-year dispute involving a St Kilda hostel landed in court.

Brittany McGuire, the daughter of Mokbel’s ex-girlfriend Danielle McGuire, had been at loggerheads with builder Robert Pavlovic who claimed he was still waiting on more than $600k in payment for construction works to convert the Punt Rd site into a hostel.

Court documents filed in 2019, claimed the mother and daughter duo and an architect approached Mr Pavlovic in mid-2017 about transforming the St Kilda junction site, owned by the younger Ms McGuire, into budget accommodation.

Mr Pavlovic, who runs construction company RPA Constructions, agreed to complete the works for Ms McGuire which began in June 2018 and by November 2018 had totalled $834,696.

But Mr Pavlovic alleged he was paid just under $220,000 by Ms McGuire.

“In breach of the Contract, and despite demand, the Owners have failed, refused or neglected to make payment to the plaintiff of part of (three invoices) … of which $612,769.72 remains outstanding,” a statement of claim alleged.

On March 19, County Court judge Edward Woodward ordered Ms McGuire pay Mr Pavlovic $805,989, which includes interest, as well as Mr Pavlovic’s costs accrued during the lengthy court battle.

The civil judgment against the 24-year-old is the latest court appearance for Ms McGuire who last year was forced to testify about what she saw and did in the wake of a fatal fight night shooting rampage at a boxing tournament in March 2019.

Ms McGuire, who was one of a dozen people compelled to give evidence in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, told of how she feared for her life when an unknown man pulled a gun on her at the boxing match where a young father was killed.

She said her memory of the night in which four men, including her boyfriend Abdullah El Nasher, allegedly opened fire at the crowded fight night in Kensington was “vague” because she was high on a cocktail of prescription pills and alcohol.

Ms McGuire told the court she had been taking Xanax and Valium because her father “was in a coma” after a brutal prison bashing two weeks earlier.

The civil judgment against Ms McGuire has been stayed – or paused – until March 30.
