Bodybuilder cop charged with serious assault after woman allegedly glassed

A police officer accused of glassing a woman during a night out is also a highly successful bodybuilder and fitness coach.
Senior Constable Christopher Barnden, 31, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with recklessly causing injury and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.
Charge sheets reveal he allegedly glassed a woman in Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday January 7, 2023.
Police allege the incident placed the woman, believed to be a friend, “in danger of serious injury”.
Constable Barnden was off-duty at the time of the alleged assault.
The southern metro region officer was charged in July this year following an internal probe by Professional Standards Command.
Constable Barnden is highly regarded in Melbourne’s elite fitness community and coaches men and women to compete on the international bodybuilding stage.
His professional Instagram account, followed by more than 2.5K users, also promotes his work as a nutritionist and shows off his muscular physique.
“Nothing worth having comes easy. Putting in the work every day with no regrets,” his latest post reads.
Constable Barnden is on summons and will reappear in court on January 7, 2025.
